The International Paralympic Committee (IPC) has opened the call for abstracts for next year’s VISTA2013 Conference which will be held in Bonn, Germany on 01-04 May 2013.
Designed to promote and advance the mission, goals, objectives and reputation of the IPC, the VISTA Conference provides a platform for sport scientists to meet with experts in the field of sport for athletes with a disability. VISTA 2013, the sixth edition of the conference, is set to be the premier gathering of scientists, coaches, athletes, officials and administrators to exchange scientific knowledge and expertise and promote cross-disciplinary professional interaction in Paralympic Sport.
The main theme “Equipment and Technology in Paralympic Sport” coincides very well with an exceptional London 2012 Paralympic Games where equipment was in the news prominently, and will be explored from different angles in keynote addresses and invited symposia. It will generate an opportunity to discuss and exchange knowledge on the subject. However, VISTA2013 will also allow for knowledge exchange in multiple other areas, including:
– Athlete Development Models & Career Pathways
– Classification
– Coaching Innovation
– Education & Awareness
– Ethics
– Equity in Sport: gender, athlete with high support needs, etc.
– Integration / Development / Recruitment
– Media / Marketing / Sponsoring
– Sport Management: Organization & Administration
– Social Legacies
– Sport performance – Exercise physiology, Advances in training techniques,
Technical development
– Sports medicine
– Youth in Paralympic Sport
Ahead of the conference, the IPC is inviting members of the Paralympic community to send in their abstracts in any of the above areas.
The VISTA Conference next year will build on the success of previous events held in Jasper (Canada, 1993), Cologne (Germany, 1999), Bollnas (Sweden, 2003) and Bonn (Germany, 2006, 2011). Taking place from01-04 May 2013, VISTA 2013, will be the principal conference for the Paralympic community.
